Saying Goodbye to Gluten

Updated: Apr 2, 2024

I think the hardest part of becoming truly gluten free is the loss of so much more than food. It is saying goodbye to easy travel, saying no to certain events with friends or family, learning how to prepare ahead of time, creating ways to answer questions or comments from people who do not understand, and so many unforeseen things that come along with it. Whether you are choosing the gluten free life or you have been given the gluten free life, like myself, it can be a long lonely road to navigate.

It can be a significant dietary adjustment for many , whether due to a medical condition like celiac disease or a choice to adopt a gluten free lifestyle. It often involves a process of relearning how to navigate food choices, scrutinizing labels and finding suitable alternatives to beloved gluten containing foods. While it can initially feel daunting, bidding farewell to gluten can lead to improved and a renewed sense of vitality for those with gluten sensitivities or intolerances. Saying goodbye to gluten often fosters a new awareness of ones dietary habits and deeper appreciation for the nourishing power of whole, unprocessed foods. Ultimately, while the journey may have its challenges , the decision to say goodbye to gluten can pave the way for a healthier, more vibrant lifestyle.
